Our members of the community project “seagrass guards” are taking the final steps for their stakeholder analysis in France. Their aim is to eventually declare seagrass meadows to marine protected areas.

In addition to the OceanCamps, there are also many other WOA actions you can take part in! Exciting workshops and lecture formats where you can get to know the ocean habitat better or familiarize yourself with the topics of sustainability and your inner compass. Deepen your knowledge or gain practical experience that will help you, for example, to develop and implement your own project on the topic of the ocean or marine conservation.
Waves Of Action is the youth initiative of the Okeanos Foundation for the Sea. We offer you different approaches to experience the ocean and learn from the ocean. Get in touch with other like-minded people, with experts and actors: inside who inspire you, but above all with your environment, yourself and your possibilities. We are convinced that it’s not the environment that needs to change – it’s us. From OceanCamps and workshops to individual funding opportunities and the Waves Of Action portal, we offer you a wide range of formats to get active yourself. We want to provide you with the best possible support on your personal path of engagement. In a growing community, creatively, with fun, through adventure, encounters and well-founded exchange. Always with the big goal in mind, that our wonderful oceans will benefit from it.

In April 2025, 57 committed young people prepared for their trip to VAKA – our transformative educational project on the Mediterranean. Intensive days of preparation created a space for meeting, learning and growing together.
Accompanied by the office team and the captains Jorge and Gaelle, supported by inspiring impulses from Prof. Markus Rex, Christian Weigandt, Salzwasser e. V., our team members Nele and Levke as well as motivating video messages from Céline Cousteau, Uli Kunz and Florian Weiss, not only was knowledge shared, but space was also created for real questions.
In addition to content sessions, we experienced connection through yoga and meditation in the morning, courageous surfing, campfires, open discussions and the joint development of visions for the future.
Thank you to everyone who helped shape this time – with ideas, energy and heart.
